Trigger finger may cause catching, clicking or a finger that feels stuck when bending or straightening. Some people need medical management rather than physiotherapy alone.
General educational information, not a diagnosis. Clinical review has not been recorded.
What happens during an assessment?
The clinician can review how often locking occurs, pain, hand function and signs of conditions that should be evaluated by a medical practitioner.
What might a care plan include?
Hand activity modification, movement advice and referral for appropriate medical treatments may be discussed according to severity.
Questions patients ask
Is trigger finger physiotherapy right for me?
There is no one treatment plan that suits everyone. The first step is to review the symptoms, medical history and functional goals, then decide whether physiotherapy, additional medical assessment or a different service is appropriate.
What should I bring to an assessment?
Please bring relevant reports or imaging if you already have them, a current medication list when relevant and a brief description of what daily activities have become difficult. You do not need to obtain scans solely to book a first enquiry.
Safety and next steps
A fixed locked digit, marked swelling or persistent loss of function requires medical evaluation.
