Knee pain may make stairs, squatting, walking or getting up from a chair uncomfortable. Causes range from overload to injury or joint disease.
General educational information, not a diagnosis. Clinical review has not been recorded.
What happens during an assessment?
Assessment may consider swelling, recent injury, walking pattern, knee range of motion, hip and leg strength and activities that provoke symptoms.
What might a care plan include?
For appropriate cases, progressive strengthening, movement guidance and a return-to-activity plan may support function and confidence.
Questions patients ask
Is knee pain physiotherapy right for me?
There is no one treatment plan that suits everyone. The first step is to review the symptoms, medical history and functional goals, then decide whether physiotherapy, additional medical assessment or a different service is appropriate.
What should I bring to an assessment?
Please bring relevant reports or imaging if you already have them, a current medication list when relevant and a brief description of what daily activities have become difficult. You do not need to obtain scans solely to book a first enquiry.
Safety and next steps
A hot, very swollen joint, significant injury, fever or inability to bear weight requires prompt medical review.
