Back pain may feel like an ache, stiffness or sharp discomfort during sitting, walking, lifting or changing position. Many causes are not serious, but some symptoms need medical attention.
General educational information, not a diagnosis. Clinical review has not been recorded.
What happens during an assessment?
An assessment may review how pain started, whether it travels, functional limits, movement, strength and warning signs that indicate referral or imaging decisions by a medical clinician.
What might a care plan include?
Care may include reassurance, graded activity, personalised movement exercises, strength work and practical advice about returning to normal tasks.
Questions patients ask
Is back pain physiotherapy right for me?
There is no one treatment plan that suits everyone. The first step is to review the symptoms, medical history and functional goals, then decide whether physiotherapy, additional medical assessment or a different service is appropriate.
What should I bring to an assessment?
Please bring relevant reports or imaging if you already have them, a current medication list when relevant and a brief description of what daily activities have become difficult. You do not need to obtain scans solely to book a first enquiry.
Safety and next steps
Seek urgent assessment for new bladder or bowel changes, saddle numbness or worsening weakness in both legs.
