Carpal tunnel syndrome can involve tingling, numbness or weakness in the hand, often affecting the thumb and nearby fingers. Other nerve conditions can mimic it.

What happens during an assessment?
Assessment may consider symptom location, wrist and hand tasks, night symptoms, grip, sensation and whether medical tests or referral are indicated.
What might a care plan include?
Appropriate conservative care may include activity advice, ergonomic changes, selected exercises or discussion of splinting and medical review.
Questions patients ask
Is carpal tunnel physiotherapy right for me?
There is no one treatment plan that suits everyone. The first step is to review the symptoms, medical history and functional goals, then decide whether physiotherapy, additional medical assessment or a different service is appropriate.
What should I bring to an assessment?
Please bring relevant reports or imaging if you already have them, a current medication list when relevant and a brief description of what daily activities have become difficult. You do not need to obtain scans solely to book a first enquiry.
Safety and next steps
Persistent numbness, loss of thumb muscle bulk or worsening weakness should be assessed promptly.
