Facial weakness may occur after Bell's palsy or for other reasons, and a sudden facial change must not automatically be attributed to a benign nerve condition.
General educational information, not a diagnosis. Clinical review has not been recorded.
What happens during an assessment?
A clinician should review the medical diagnosis, facial movement, eye protection needs and what rehabilitation or medical specialist care is appropriate.
What might a care plan include?
Where indicated, careful facial retraining and education may be considered in coordination with medical advice.
Questions patients ask
Is facial palsy rehabilitation right for me?
There is no one treatment plan that suits everyone. The first step is to review the symptoms, medical history and functional goals, then decide whether physiotherapy, additional medical assessment or a different service is appropriate.
What should I bring to an assessment?
Please bring relevant reports or imaging if you already have them, a current medication list when relevant and a brief description of what daily activities have become difficult. You do not need to obtain scans solely to book a first enquiry.
