What happens during an assessment?
The therapist may assess shoulder movement, strength, neck contribution, previous injury and movements that trigger pain or loss of function.
What might a care plan include?
Exercise-based rehabilitation, suitable movement modifications and education may be considered after the cause is assessed.
Questions patients ask
Is shoulder pain physiotherapy right for me?
There is no one treatment plan that suits everyone. The first step is to review the symptoms, medical history and functional goals, then decide whether physiotherapy, additional medical assessment or a different service is appropriate.
What should I bring to an assessment?
Please bring relevant reports or imaging if you already have them, a current medication list when relevant and a brief description of what daily activities have become difficult. You do not need to obtain scans solely to book a first enquiry.
Safety and next steps
Severe sudden pain after an injury, obvious deformity or major loss of movement needs urgent medical assessment.
