Pain, tingling or reduced sensation in a leg can come from several causes, including nerve irritation, circulation problems or other medical conditions. It should not be assumed to be sciatica.
General educational information, not a diagnosis. Clinical review has not been recorded.
What happens during an assessment?
A careful history, symptom distribution, movement and basic neurological screening may help determine whether physiotherapy or medical referral is most appropriate.
What might a care plan include?
Where the presentation is suitable, rehabilitation may focus on movement, strength and activity while monitoring changes.
Questions patients ask
Is leg pain & numbness assessment right for me?
There is no one treatment plan that suits everyone. The first step is to review the symptoms, medical history and functional goals, then decide whether physiotherapy, additional medical assessment or a different service is appropriate.
What should I bring to an assessment?
Please bring relevant reports or imaging if you already have them, a current medication list when relevant and a brief description of what daily activities have become difficult. You do not need to obtain scans solely to book a first enquiry.
Safety and next steps
New or rapidly progressive weakness, saddle numbness, bladder/bowel symptoms, severe swelling or circulation concerns need urgent medical assessment.
