A consultation is the starting point when pain, stiffness, weakness or a change in movement is affecting your routine. You do not need to know the diagnosis before asking for an assessment.
General educational information, not a diagnosis. Clinical review has not been recorded.
What happens during an assessment?
The conversation may cover the onset of symptoms, medical history, work and activity, previous treatment, daily limitations and your own goals. Relevant movement, strength, neurological or balance checks may follow.
What might a care plan include?
The physiotherapist can explain the findings in accessible language, discuss suitable next steps, plan exercises where appropriate and identify cases needing referral.
Questions patients ask
Is physiotherapy consultation right for me?
There is no one treatment plan that suits everyone. The first step is to review the symptoms, medical history and functional goals, then decide whether physiotherapy, additional medical assessment or a different service is appropriate.
What should I bring to an assessment?
Please bring relevant reports or imaging if you already have them, a current medication list when relevant and a brief description of what daily activities have become difficult. You do not need to obtain scans solely to book a first enquiry.
Safety and next steps
A consultation is not an emergency service; sudden or severe symptoms require appropriate urgent medical care.
